EAST OF ENGLAND Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire (excluding London Boroughs) RTPI Planning Aid Service run by the East of England Branch with a part time administrator and a co-ordinator.EAST MIDLANDS Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire RTPI Planning Aid Service run by the RTPI East Midlands Branch with a part-time administrator. Initial telephone advice may be given by the administrator; other advice is given on a wholly voluntary basis by members of the RTPI.EIRE There is no Planning Aid Service as such in Eire. The Executive Committee of the RTPI Irish Branch (Southern Section) funds, from time to time, community planning projects, which may be previously researched by committee members. Applications for such funding are made to the Committee who require details relating to the planning content of the project, the personnel involved, etc.GREATER LONDON Greater London (including all outer London boroughs) Planning Aid Service is run by Planning Aid for London, an independent organisation funded by the London Borough Grants Scheme, with full-time paid staff and a very extensive network of volunteers (150+).NORTH Cleveland, county Durham, Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear RTPI Planning Aid Service run by the RTPI Northern Branch on a wholly voluntary basis, co-ordinated by the branch’s part-time administrative assistant.NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND AND NORTH WALES Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Gwynedd & Clwyd RTPI Planning Aid Service run by RTPI North West of England and North Wales Branch on a voluntary basis, and co-ordinated by the branch’s part time administrative assistant. The service in North Wales is provided by the Branch in conjunction with Planning Aid Wales.NORTHERN IRELAND The RTPI’s Irish Branch (Northern Section) has set up a service but casework referrals will not be taken until the formal launch in June 2000. The service receives casework enquiries from individuals and those community groups that do not qualify for assistance from Community Technical Aid (CTA). A referral service has been developed between Planning Aid and CTA. Office is staffed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.SCOTLAND Planning Aid in Scotland is run by Planning Aid for Scotland, an independent service and a charitable company supported by grants from the RTPI Scottish Branch, local authorities and grant-giving trusts.SOUTHERN ENGLAND Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Oxfordshire RTPI Planning Aid Service run by the RTPI Southern Branch with a part time paid administrator.SOUTH EAST East and West Sussex, Surrey and Kent (excluding London Boroughs) RTPI Planning Aid Service run by the RTPI South East Branch with a part-time administrator. The branch is recruiting a paid administrator in 2000. Enquiries in counties with no Planning Aid co-ordinator should be referred to the RTPI Branch Co-ordinator on 01823-661161.WALES North Wales (former counties of Clwyd and Gwynnedd): see North West of England and North Wales South Wales (all of Wales except the former counties of Clwyd and Gwynedd): Planning Aid Service run by Planning Aid Wales, an independent organisation with limited funding from public sources with part-time staff and an answerphone. Approximately 55 active volunteers.WEST MIDLANDS Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, former county of West Midlands. RTPI Planning Aid Service run by the RTPI West Midlands Branch with additional external funding and a good network of volunteers. The service operates a rural and an urban outreach project with full time project workers.The urban outreach project covers Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
